Hi, I'm Dakota
I was born in Southern Alberta and spent most of my life being raised in Medicine Hat, AB. I grew up in this community knowing I wanted to serve this community one day. From an early age, I knew I would be working in the helping profession and concluded that I wanted to be a counsellor in my teen years.
I pursued my Addictions Counselling Diploma and my Social Work Diploma in 2013 and moved on to complete my Bachelor of Professional Arts in Human Services in 2019. After completing my degree I went straight into working towards completing my Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology and graduated in 2022. I focused my graduate research on addiction and disordered eating. I believe in lifelong education, therefore, I am sure my learning won't stop here.
I started working in the human service field in 2014 and continued to work throughout my education. I have worked mainly with children, teens, and young adults in various educational, outreach and counselling positions. I am excited to continue working in the private sector, serving Medicine Hat and beyond!
Niche
I work with a diverse clientele but focus on children 7+, teens, and young adults. I work with a variety of issues surrounding life's challenges including addiction, eating disorders, anxiety, body image, emotional regulation, self-harm, and attachment disorders.
